No, I’m not talking about the Sri Lankan megastar with a penchant for the infantile. Between work and planning for a trip to Europe (I will be leaving next Thursday)(holy fucking shit), I haven’t had much time for posting. I can’t promise many updates while I’m overseas, so this may be one of my last posts for a few months. I just wanted to say thank you to those who take the time to check out our little blog every once in awhile, and leave you with some tidbits.
- Super late on the draw, but Jas of Simian Mobile Disco threw down a stellar set on Friday of Memorial Day Weekend, setting the tone with crowd favorites like Sleep Deprivation and Cruel Intentions, and going well into the AM with a serious series of afterhours techno trippers. Love Search was a proper opener as well, and I hope to see them again sometime soon. I’m also glad to have ended the weekend with a Markus Schulz (pretty much the only trance DJ I’ll pay to see at this point) tranceout as well. Good times as always with the Beat Connection crew.
- I probably toot his horn too much, but the deep and devastating John Digweed has crafted a hell of an Essential Mix for our listening pleasure. Say what you will about the energy he brings (or doesn’t) to the table, but as Pete Tong says, his sequencing and track selection are second to none. He will be playing a set at the Mayan on June 16th for those of you who want to get your Diggers fix.
- Reset Festival in San Diego with Bassnectar, A-Trak, and Flying Lotus was a big hit. Big props to fellow Bruin Brian McClanahan for taking the bull by the balls and orchestrating an event of that magnitude. Hopefefully that will be the first of many events down there in San Diahhhhgo.
- RIP John Wooden. Thank you for your words and leadership. One of the realest dudes there ever was in organized sports.
I’ll try to check back in before my trip. Take care raverinos.
