WMC – Misha’s Take

Ultra Music Festival

Yes yes another excellent post by Rob outlining the wonders and magic of WMC. My brother is there right now hitting up boat and pool parties galore, along with guidos, open bars, and lots of other exciting adventures. Sounds like fun. Only thoughts of Coachella are keeping me grounded here in Los Angeles. Another thing drawing me in is all the tweets from various DJs talking about how they’re all hanging out, having fun, and excuse me for being a bit of a dreamer but I would guess that there are some epic sets and collaborations going on between the masterminds at all these parties. After all, if you’re dropping a house set and a tipsy Axwell stops by, why not let him get on the decks for a few tracks and then let Laidback Luke drop a beat or two… then kick it over to Eric Prydz… oh my … I’m getting carried away. And I sound like a geek. But on the other hand – hey look, it’s already happening:

If you want to keep up with the DJs of the world, I would recommend you hit up our Twitter list. LA BeatCo has slowly added various DJs from LA and those who have made big waves in LA to a twitter list. To read up, click here. Only 30 right now but you can bet we’ll be adding more.

This week there will be lots of little parties all around Miami (kind of an Ibiza style venture) with a huge event called Ultra Music Festival rounding the whole thing off at the end of the week. Man does that sound like fun! Just like I tweeted online, I wish LA had something like this; we could certainly get it done especially with all of the ridiculous venues we have in the city – Circus, Vanguard, Avalon, Music Box, Shrine, Palladium, Sports Arena, Coliseum… all we need is some excuse like an “industry week” (that’s how WMC started – learn about new technologies, go to meetings, etc.) and then turn it into a fat party. What do you guys say?

Well, until someone picks up the slack and figures it out (not it!), I’ll just keep dreaming. And it’s easy to dream when you look at that line-up. I mean c’mon. Everyone you could possibly want to see is on that line up. OK I’m sure there are a few absences but I’ll let that slide in lieu of a huge music event with downtown Miami in the background, great weather, and fantastic people from all over the world partying to the same music.

So to those in Miami – party on! And to those in LA wishing you were there… well… there are ways to kind of be there.
