2009

The year is coming to a close and that means it’s time for Top ___ of 2009 lists as well as of course of the decade. Companies such as VH1, Pitchforkmedia and Rolling Stone must be having a field day. Since I only got into EDM about 5 years ago I really can’t make a top of the decade list but top of the year is no problem! Every year Armin van Buuren has a voting page up for people to nominate their top trance tracks of 2009.

Of course these votes are a bit swayed by the tracks Armin favored throughout the year but there is nothing that can be done about that. Once the voting is complete the top 20 are mixed together and the #1 winner is usually given quite a bump in his career/reputation. Last year it was DJ Shah and the year before that was JOC; I think we’ve both seen the success those DJs have had. Maybe the #1 spot isn’t a cause of the success but vice versa; either way the top 20 tracks are always a great selection of the year’s best trance and progressive records.

It might be fun enough for you to just go on there and scroll through all the amazing tracks that have been released throughout 2009.

For the voting page go here: http://arminvanbuuren.net/

Go and vote my friends! I have already voted with 3 different e-mails because there are just too many good tracks! Here are 3 of my top tracks for 2009:

Purple Haze – Bliksem

Rex Mundi ft. Susana – Nothing at All

Rafael Frost – Red

Honorable mention goes to Markus Schulz’s whole Dakota album, Marco V – Unprepared, Daniel Kandi’s remix of Good Day, Gareth Emery’s Metropolis, Stoneface & Terminal remix of Onyric, new Cosmic Gate album, Markus Schulz remix of Sign of the Times, and countless others.

Got some favorites for this year? Post it in the comments below.
