As some of you may have heard, Armin van Buuren was voted the world’s #1 DJ for the third time in a row in the DJ Mag Poll. For those of you still trying to figure out what all the hype is about, read our write-ups about it here and here.
When the winners are announced, the DJ Mag folks throw a huge party at the famous London club called Ministry of Sound. A lot of the nominees get to play there, and if you’re interested in checking our their sets simply do a search on alldj.org. Anyway, Armin played a set there and looking at the tracklist I’m seeing a lot of the same tracks that he played at Monster Massive 2009.
It’s not 100% identical by any means, but when a DJ travels the world and plays at events where he knows 99% of the attendees haven’t seen him play recently anywhere else, there is no harm in using a tried and true set with songs you know will mix well and sound great. So there is no surprise in seeing that a DJs set slowly changes throughout the weeks but when there is a huge world tour, it stays overall fairly consistent with not a lot of big changes.
