I played a party last night… Unfortunately most people there were not expecting to hear house music so I got an annoyingly high amount of requests for hip-hop. Those are definitely things you have to deal with when you start out as a DJ. You build your rep and people respect what you play more and more but until then you are often treated as an iPod, especially by drunk college students who use hip-hop music as an excuse to dry hump each other on the dance floor and engage in one of the weirdest mating rituals known to date. You thought that bird in Planet Earth had a crazy dance? Check out UCLA on a Thursday night.
This is only motivation to work harder on my mixes and promote myself to the point where I’m playing to an audience that is there to hear my music!!! My chin stays high!
A few tracks last night, however, were very successful while I had the dancefloor’s attention. This is one of them. Hats off to Randy Katana for making an amazing dancefloor track.
