Just thought I’d give everyone a heads up. I’m making plans in advance to go, and so should you. In fact, I’ve already canceled Thanksgiving plans with my parents as well as called off being best man at my best friend’s wedding so I can go see Tiesto. Click Read More to hear about what other people I’ve hurt or ditched in order to what I want.

Ok so maybe I’m being overly dramatic. But seriously, I am pretty excited to have the man back in LA doing an arena Tiesto tour (and not an ISOS tour which is usually more chill). The last time this happened was when Tiesto played the Sports Arena in 2007 and that went down crazy with an 8 hour set including fireworks and awesome visuals.

Tiesto’s live dates in LA have been announcedNovember 25, 27, and 28 at The Shrine. Tickets are only on pre-sale for his InBooth members (membership costs 50 bucks.. but you get a sweet Tiesto pin!!!) but I would expect them to go on sale soon for 45-55 dollars a piece.

This is the last leg of Tiesto’s American tour (besides his New Year’s show in Vegas which is a mere 150$ a ticket) so we can definitely expect a special performance with some surprises, especially considering the fact that Tiesto considers LA to be the prime influence of his new album.

At this point, some of you may have already stopped reading. Some of you are definitely Tiesto doubters.

But let me try to change your mind.

Tiesto definitely gets hated on for being a typical trance DJ who lacks skill, doesn’t appreciate his audience, doesn’t put in the time and effort, lacks originality, etc. etc. I do think part of this hating is because he is (arguably) the most successful electronic DJ to date and there is always backlash against successful artists who are claimed to have lost their originality and sold out. I for one do not agree with this, but there are other reasons why Tiesto should be given a second chance.

First and foremost, Tiesto has definitely been working on a shift in style. Rob and I have dubbed it “Electro-Trance”. This style is certainly influenced by the time Tiesto spent in LA, as he has stated himself. If you want to check out his new style, you can do this in two ways:

1 – His new album has been posted on MySpace in its entirety. Check it out. I bet you will be surprised by some of the guests.

2 – Check out one of his live sets. I suggest his radio show – Club Life, episode 129 which features 2 hours from his set at Creamfields, a huge electronic festival in Europe. There are other Tiesto live sets floating around the net so get one from 2009 and notice the changes.

The new changes are less focus on banging uplifting trance and more of a techy, housy, electro feel. I for one am a huge fan of this new direction; Tiesto has always historically pushed the boundaries of dance music and it seems like he is doing it again.

See you at the Shrine in November!!!
