Just 5 days until Nocturnal and some of you may be asking “Who the hell is Ferry Corsten and why is he headlining the main stage at Nocturnal?” With today’s prevalence of electronic music in the pop world, electro and house has certainly eclipsed trance and progressive acts. However these are the very acts still headlining and destroying massive events around the world. The uplifting and driving sounds of trance simply cannot be ignored…

But that’s just me trying to justify my love for the music. Let me get you interested in Ferry Corsten by showing you a video from his annual Full on Ferry show (sadly, only in the Netherlands for now). The DJ booth floats over the audience. If that isn’t from the Matrix I don’t know what is. (sorry for the awful sound)

Ferry Corsten short bio:

Ferry Corsten is a dutch trance master who started producing even before the year 2000. His classic track that made him popular is called “Out of the Blue” which he plays at almost every event, and he is also known for teaming up with Tiesto to make classic trance tracks under the “Gouryella” name. In the mid 2000′s, Ferry got tired of what he perceived to be an overly static trance scene and this came out with his album, LEF (which I highly recommend you check out), which he branded as electro-trance dance music. His latest album, Twice In a Blue Moon, was released in late 2008 and what you will see on Saturday is his “Twice in a Blue Moon: Experience” tour which features special effects, guests, and performances similar to Armin Van Buuren’s Armin Only at TAO last year.

Ferry is definitely an extremely influential producer in the trance world; many DJs including myself were inspired by him. He is definitely one of my favorite producers, and choosing just 3 tracks has proved to be very difficult. But my choices reflect tunes that you will be 99% likely to hear on Saturday combined with my favorite ones. Hope this gives you a good idea of what to expect, and gets you excited to see Ferry destroy the main stage on Saturday at Nocturnal Festival.

Ferry Corsten – Beautiful (Played at pretty much every show. One of my favorite tracks of all time)

Ferry Corsten – Brainbox (insane dancefloor filler)

Ferry Corsten – Made of Love (expect to hear this one performed live)
