Additionally, it will be reverting to its old location at the Shrine in downtown LA . Savvy business move, seeing as though these changes a) make it highly unlikely that we’ll see a repeat of the debacle that took place at “The-Festival-which-will-not-be-named”, and b) protect against HARD losing all its business to the immensely popular Monster Massive, which takes place on Halloween night.
The bottom line: what was a win-lose situation for Gary Richards and co. has become a win-win for the LA dance music community on Halloween weekend. Electroheads can now rave the fuck out to Deadmau5, 2ManyDJs, A-Trak, and the Bloody Beetroots on Friday night and then make the difficult decision of whether or not to stay at the Shrine or walk a few blocks down the street to the Sports Arena for a change of scenery on All Hallows Eve. So much for spending Halloween in Isla Vista.
It’s a tough call. Justice DJ sets are nothing to write home about, but stateside Basement Jaxx DJ sets are pretty freakin rare, and Crookers, Major Lazer, Modeselektor, and Buraka Som Sistema are all at the top of their game right now. On the other hand, it’s hard to deny the power of techno therapy at the hands of Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, James Zabiela, M.A.N.D.Y., Steve Lawler, and the like. What do you guys think?
All I know is that parking in the USC area on Saturday night will be a bitch.
