August was not a good month for Los Angeles dance music enthusiasts.
Between the shutdown of HARD Summer Festival, the tragic passing of one of LA/America’s most renowned DJs (DJ AM), and, to top it all off, a less-than-contained wildfire that’s still raging on the outskirts of Los Angeles, it was a forgettable month for Southern Californians. Maybe the fire will help burn off some of these bad vibez we’ve been feeling over the past 4 weeks.
However, as we always must do, we move on, learn from our mistakes, turn the page, etc. There’s too much joy in this life, dammit! On Friday, we’ll see the first installment of Invention Massive, San Diego’s first ever EDM massive, boasting the likes of Wolfgang Gartner, Steve Duda (Duda and Deadmau5 make up the popular outfit BSOD), and Go Ventures’ very own DJ Reza. The Nocturnal Festival is also gonna be going down on Saturday the 26th! Laidback Luke, Ferry Corsten, Dirty South, Switch, Paul Oakenfold…the list of top-notch talent goes on and on! Monster Massive and HARD Haunted Mansion are around the corner as well.
Greener pastures, people!
I also wanted to thank our new friends Tamie and Paul over at So Sweet Records. We had a great talk with them the other day. They’re doing some very quality, forward-thinking work these days (including organizing the Queens’ Ground stage at Nocturnal Festival). Our interview with them will be posted very soon. Big ups to them!
And, as always, keep tuning in for more mixes, event previews, new tracks, and the like.
