…and it’s not too bad. Ferry Corsten is headlining the night, giving the greater Los Angeles area its first taste of his “Twice in a Blue Moon” live show. Other highlights include Perfecto boss Paul Oakenfold, house juggernauts/Swedish House Mafia extensions Laidback Luke and Dirty South, close friend of the Daft Punk family DJ Falcon, Christopher Lawrence, Rabbit in the Moon, and a DJ set by legendary D&B band Pendulum. What’s perhaps most notable about this year’s installment is the heavy presence of dubstep, a subversive niche genre of electronic music that hasn’t been getting much representation in the LA rave scene until very recently. DJs Rusko, Benga, and Skream, all of whom are considered to be at the scene’s vanguard, will no doubt be dropping some serious bass in the “Queens Grounds” stage. This, compounded with the fact that the festivities will be taking place outside LA city limits (at the NOS Events Center in San Bernadino), sort of guarantees that Nocturnal will be an underground affair of sorts.
And might I remind you to always be a little bit underground.
