WOW talk about a lineup! It’s good to see promoters like Motive bringing some fresh, new talent over to LA. While these artists aren’t well known here yet, they are huge in Europe and music fans around here will finally get a taste of the action. The event hosting this is called the Lost City of Atlantis at a TBA location, but according to Klaas’s management (PAM DJs), it looks like it’s going to be in Pico Rivera, which is a friendly neighborhood over in Southeast LA. The capacity is 15,000 so there should be plenty of room for people to party. Although Motive’s last LA event was apparently plagued with police issues, hopefully the local authorities will be less interested in this event than the previous “420 Fest” (why are you surprised that cops and undercovers showed up at an event with this name?). Artist previews after the jump…

The headliner of the event is German DJ Klaas. He is an awesome house DJ and will be sharing the stage with LA local DJ Reza as well as some others. Some of you not so into dance music might be wondering “who the hell is Klaas? I’ve never heard anything by him!” but I guarantee you you have. Klaas is not only responsible for helping bring electro house to the mainstream, but he is responsible for one of the biggest club hits of the past couple of years – Ifinity. If you’ve ever been to a club or party that played house music, please tell me this song wasn’t played:

And then of course there’s his bomb remix of “Where’s Your Head At”

Long story short, Klaas is bound to rock the party hard to be sure to see him!

On the trance side of things, Simon Patterson is making his way over to LA all the way from the UK. He made a big impression on people when he played at ASOT400 – his style is very fast, hard, and techy (similar to Sean Tyas) so expect a real intense set that will blow your mind. Just think about the last few songs of a set by Armin van Buuren or Tiesto where they go super fast and super crazy… and now think about that for the majority of a DJs set! Simon is going to blow the roof off of Atlantis and hopefully this will mark his entrance into some of LA’s bigger events because he is a talented DJ who has been skimmed over so far on the west coast. Here are a couple of his tracks.

A remix of Sander Van Doorn’s Sam Sharp – Roundabout (PVD opened with this at WMC this year. Bomb track!!!)

Simon Patterson – Bulldozer (huge favorite of Tiesto during his EOL tour):

And last but not least another DJ who should be coming to LA more frequently, and I am glad he is getting some play time here, is the German Roger Shah aka DJ Shah aka Sunlounger. Shah’s style is balearic, chillout trance – perfect for listening while chilling out in the sun during LA summers on the beach, on your deck, or in your car. Shah usually plays most of his own tracks, because he has a unique style. He is not super intense but his melodies are amazing and beautiful, and so expect some euphoria in the crowd during this guy’s set. Shah’s track as Sunlounger called Lost won Track of the Year last year among Armin’s A State of Trance listeners and his music can be found on just about anybody’s “chillout” or “Ibiza” or “balearic” trance compilations. If you do go see Roger Shah live, expect an extra bonus as he plays live keyboards during his performances, giving them that extra flare. Don’t miss out!

Sunlounger ft. Zara – Lost (remember this live at TAO 2009?!)

Armin van Buuren & DJ Shah ft. Chris Jones – Going Wrong (as performed live at Together as One new year’s eve 2008-09)

I am very happy and excited that these artists are being brought over to LA to impress the crowds, and I sure hope that they’ll be back soon because I already made plans for Labor Day weekend. However, if you’re looking to go, event info and tickets are here.
